Bilingual and Multilingual Seals and World Language Proficiency Assessments: Recognizing Student Language Proficiency to Earn College Credit

Minnesota districts, schools and charter schools may award Minnesota gold or platinum bilingual and multilingual seals and world language proficiency certificates to students who demonstrate the required levels of language proficiency on languages other than English including American Sign Language (ASL) and American Indian (indigenous) languages.

This session will:

  1. Focus on ACTFL descriptors of required proficiency levels and available valid assessments 
  2. Explore models for assessing languages for which no proficiency assessments exist and
  3. Discuss the process of obtaining seals and credit from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU).
