Please join us on June 25 to discuss the new law requiring teacher licensure candidates in Minnesota to pass a Basic Skills test. At the request of the Minnesota Department of Education, we are collecting data from teachers who have taken the test and we will have that information available. We have also spoken to legislators (see our photos) who may be amenable to a change in the law, and we encourage you to do so at your earliest convenience. If you need talking points, see our advocacy forum.
Our next step is to agree on what changes in the law we would like to recommend to the Education Commissioner who will be putting together a proposal for the governor by early fall. The next legislative session begins in January.
Our meeting room can accommodate only 30 people, so register today. Registration will be closed when we reach 30. We welcome the participation of administrators, teachers, parents and anyone interested.
