A Bilingual Program Facilitator is an individual who has a very strong background in both theory and the practice of bilingual education and bi-literacy (reading, writing, speaking and listening) of elementary age children. In addition, the program facilitator demonstrates the ability to share that knowledge and experience with other educators in an effective way.

FOCUS:

MPS seeks a highly qualified candidate with experience in dual language education and English learner programs to drive continuous improvement and to provide outstanding, individualized technical assistance and coaching and professional development to the dedicated principals and teachers in MPS elementary schools. Program facilitators work closely with teachers to deepen the teacher’s repertoire of classroom strategies, including using student data to drive differentiated instruction, and to bring relentless focus to accelerating student learning, especially in the areas of literacy and critical thinking. Bilingual Program Facilitator will also provide specific support to principals, teachers, schools, and other members of the MPS network around best practices and legal mandates for dual language instruction. The dual program facilitator will develop and deliver professional development to teachers across MPS’s networks, to contribute to the building and success of the network’s dual language program, and to participate in recruitment and other network-wide initiatives. All candidates must possess a commitment to deep levels of educational change and reform, resilience of spirit and an earnest respect and fondness for the children of our schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree in an education-related fields; current teaching certificate with ESL and/or Elementary Education.

-Experience as a successful and innovative Bilingual/ESL teacher, including the skills necessary to mentor adult learners; minimum five years of successful K-8 classroom teaching experience.

-Extensive experience in urban educational setting.

-Prior experience coaching or mentoring adult learners.

-Excellent time-management, organization and interpersonal skills.

-Strong collaborative, interpersonal and teamwork skills in writing with a diverse group of school and network-based stakeholders.

-Demonstrated ability to lead professional learning sessions and develop strong written communication in Spanish.

-High level of academic language proficiency in English and Spanish.

-Spanish ACTFL score of Advanced High or Superior is desired.

-Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of video technology (Flip cameras, iPads)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Guide program implementation to ensure high levels of fidelity to district Program Framework. Drive a commitment to continuous improvement.

-Provide real-time classroom coaching and outstanding, individualized professional development in behavior/classroom management, rigorous instruction and the best practices for the education of English learners, to the teachers if a variety of subjects and grade levels, dual language/ESL and General Education.

-Analyze teachers’ practice in order to create intentional next steps and guided practice in order to improve teacher practices. Utilize a repertoire of strategies for adult learners including real-time, side-by-side classroom coaching, co-planning and co-teaching of lessons, modeling of best practices strategies, analysis of student work and classroom observation & feedback to improve teacher practices.

-Completes project related to the implementation of high-quality curricular initiatives at the school site or for the MPS elementary school network.

-Demonstrate commitment to increasing student achievement with data-driven instruction by teachers and administrators.

-Collaborate in the design and delivery of site-and district based professional development throughout the school year.

-Monitor student assessment data and create reports.

-Use MS Office Programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and video technology (Flip cameras, iPads) to monitor coaching practices and teacher growth.

SALARY: MFT Teacher Salary Schedule 1.0, 38 Weeks
